Description
This is a view looking up from the field of heather to the steps leading to the Rivington Pike Tower. The tower was built in gritstone in 1733, is 16 feet (4.9m)square and 20 feet (6.1m) high with its only room that retains a fireplace and 3 windows and a door all of which are now blocked up. This is the site where a series of beacons were lit for several important events including the celebration of Silver Jubilee in 1977 and Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II in 2012.
